March 16, 2023, was characterized by the distribution of 110 shippers, containing 1,320 bottles of chlorine to flood victims in Lusaka’s Kamwala South Township.
The Rusangu University Alumni Association, under the leadership of its President, Mr. Conquerous Choongo, spearheaded the event. He was accompanied by other Alumni Executive members, including Lusaka Province coordinator Sr. Precious Chiimbwe and Alumni members.
Flagging off the distribution of chlorine was the Kabwata Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Tayengwa. The area MP was in the company of the Lusaka District Health Director, Dr. Chitempa.
The RU Alumni Association president thanked all the Alumni members for their contributions, support, and encouragement in the noble cause of alleviating the suffering of the affected community.
Mr. Choongo made a clarion call to the Alumni to be solutions in the societies from which they hail since they contributed to their establishment. RU Alumni are supposed to be change leaders who positively impact their communities with the values learned from RU.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the community, Kabwata lawmaker Hon. Tayengwa thanked the RU Alumni team for the good works and advised the community not to sell the chlorine but use it wisely to prevent waterborne diseases.
The MP indicated that Kamwala South was negatively affected by floods, and the intervention of chlorine supplies by the RU Alumni was timely and helpful to the community.
